After three years of working as an Interaction Designer and helping clients to create understandable visualizations and usable applications, I decided to revive my academic work. In February 2012 I will start my studies as Master of Arts in Design at the Zurich University of the Arts (ZHdK). In the Field of Excellence Interaction I will work for 18 months on a design research project in the area of dynamic, interactive information visualization.

South By, as the cool kids call it, is one of the biggest festivals and features five packed days of presentations from the brightest minds in emerging technology, networking events and special programs showcasing the best new digital works, video games and innovative ideas the international community has to offer.

What’s the future of magazines on the tablet?

This is the question that will be answered by more than 100 students of the Design Department of the Zurich University of the Arts. In an interdisciplinary project, students from fields like Visual Communication, Industrial Design, Scientific Visualization or Interaction Design will collaborate to explore concepts and approaches on how to utilize the new possibilities provided by tablet computers like the iPad or Galaxy Tab.

I am happy to announce that I will be teaching Usability and Web Design in the newly created course for Online Marketing at the HSO. Our goal is to enable participants to develop and coordinate holistic online marketing concepts.

I took the some time during an extended weekend to finally refine the design of this website. What started as the idea of giving it a fresh look ended up in creating a design solution that spans over multiple web properties, changing the domain name and building a new microsite from scratch.

I am thrilled to announce the launch of my own company Interactive Things. We provide design, production and consulting services in user-experience design, interface design and interactive media.
